Andre Suhardiana, English Education Lecturer, Speaks at International Class Quality Assurance Workshop at Undiksha
SINGARAJA – In an effort to strengthen the quality and accreditation of its international programs, the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) held a Workshop on Quality Assurance for International Class Implementation. The event took place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Postgraduate Auditorium, Jl. Udayana No. 11, Singaraja, featuring Dr. I Putu Andre Suhardiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., an expert in Quality Assurance and International Accreditation, as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. I Made Suta Paramarta, S.Pd., M.Hum.
The workshop was officially opened by Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. In his opening remarks, Prof. Rasben reaffirmed Undiksha’s commitment to becoming an International Reputable University in Education and Leadership. “Undiksha is currently progressing toward becoming a university of international repute in education and leadership. Therefore, we are expanding various internationalization programs, one of which is the establishment of International Classes at the Postgraduate level,” he stated.
This vision aligns with the statement from the Director of the Postgraduate Program, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who emphasized that the implementation of international programs aims to encourage the participation of both academic and non-academic communities in global mobility activities at Undiksha. “Undiksha provides opportunities for students and staff to gain international experience, broaden their knowledge, and open pathways for global career development,” explained Prof. Jampel.
As the keynote speaker, Dr. I Putu Andre Suhardiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer in the English Education Department, Faculty of Dharma Acarya, Universitas Hindu Negeri (UHN) I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar, shared practical strategies for developing a quality assurance system for international class implementation.
The workshop was attended by leaders and teaching staff from the Postgraduate Program at Undiksha, including the Director and Deputy Director, Coordinators and Secretaries of Doctoral Study Programs from various disciplines such as Educational Science, Language Education, English Education, Primary Education, Educational Technology, and Accounting Science. Their participation underscored Undiksha’s strategic commitment to ensuring academic quality across all international programs. Through this workshop, Undiksha aims to enhance quality standards and governance of its international classes while accelerating progress toward its vision of becoming a globally recognized higher education institution.
The workshop’s content focused on several key aspects of international class management, beginning with the introduction of ESG (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area) as a foundational framework for quality assurance in higher education. The speaker also introduced the International Accreditation Guidelines from the AQUIN agency and The Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA), which serves as a reference for qualification equivalence across Europe.
In his presentation, Dr. Suhardiana highlighted the importance of building a prestigious and appealing academic brand to attract top students while meeting accreditation requirements related to internationalization within the External Quality Assurance Standards (SPME). This includes aligning Indonesia’s National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) with QF-EHEA and equating the Semester Credit System (SKS) with the international credit workload system.
For the quality assurance framework, the workshop discussed the application of AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance) with its systematic Input–Process–Output–Impact cycle to strengthen the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI). In the context of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) implementation, the speaker elaborated on how curriculum design directly connects with international accreditation standards. One of the main implementation areas discussed was Curriculum Design based on PLO/CLO, where evidence of implementation is reflected in curriculum documents that clearly define Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs).
The discussion emphasized that robust international standards naturally fulfill—and even surpass—the components of Indonesia’s National Standards for Higher Education (SNPT). The session also addressed the latest regulatory developments, including Ministerial Regulation No. 39 of 2025, which integrates the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework with cross-program, inter-campus, and international flexibility. The regulation also clearly defines Micro-Credentials as short-term learning achievement certifications and mandates the inclusion of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in students’ learning achievements.
Through this workshop, all members of Undiksha’s Postgraduate Program are expected to develop a unified perception and strategy for implementing internationally recognized quality assurance systems, thereby strengthening Undiksha’s credibility and global competitiveness in higher education.
